Filip at The Watford Observer: Day One
I started working full time as a reporter for The Watford Observer today. Above you will see my new desk. It is very un-personalised at present but that will hopefully change soon. The pen you see to the left of the notepad has already been eaten. Some habits are impossible to shake. I sit opposite a Lindsay, but not my Lindsay. She may actually be spelt differently as well. I have to check. I'm spelt with an F at last. I have business cards. I'll take another photo of the desk in a month to show how things are progressing.I'm the newspaper's reporter for Bushey and a few other parts of Hertsmere such as Radlett and Aldenham. There is only one of me, therefore anything of interest happening in these places will have to be reported on by me. I will have about three pages in the paper every week. These will be placed online here when I have time to scan them in. Each week I'll try to give a little bit of text on each article on here so you'll know what I'm doing.
I'm rather nervous about it all, it being the first week, but I'm sure after getting to know a few councillors and such it'll start getting easier. Words cannot describe how relieved I am to finally have a proper job in journalism. It's a dream come true.
It's been said before but needs saying again:
Thank you to everyone who put up with my lack-of-enjoyable-work moaning and complaining during the past year. Thank you thank you thank you.
Time to sleep. More blogging as the week goes on.
